In an average year, 800 tornadoes are reported nationwide, resulting in 80 deaths and over 1,500 injuries. A tornado is defined as a violently rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. The most violent tornadoes are capable of tremendous destruction with wind speeds of 250 mph or more. Damage paths can be in excess of one mile wide and 50 miles long.
Ten years ago we began selling the highest quality tornado and storm shelters available. FEMA and other government organizations provided suggestions and guidelines to which our suppliers have always complied.
In 2009 we began to build our own line of fiberglass and steel shelters to a more demanding specification. Steel shelters were re-engineered paying attention to even minor details such as the external coating on a steel shelter, thickness of the steel, and the ability to add more depth to the steel entryway. Fiberglass shelters were re-designed and re-engineered and new molds were built. These shelters are thicker, reinforced with steel at critical joints, and seams are "welded" or "fused" together rather than using the traditional glue.
